Caring Circle
The Caring Circle is a shared ministry of the UU Society of River Falls. Our purpose
is to coordinate resources for care of self, care of others, and care of our relationship
to Source. We assume that these three dimensions of care are interdependent and
mutually reinforcing. When all three dimensions of care are present, the "Caring
Circle" is unbroken. When any of three dimensions of care are out of balance,
our capacity to care is significantly decreased.
To this end we offer the following resources:
- Monthly meetings for those who are invited to join the caring circle and be bound by the rule of strict confidentiality.
- Free consultation with members and friends of UUSRF (up to 3 sessions per year per member).
- Occasional workshops, retreats and wisdom councils to deepen our
capacity for care for our selves, for others and our relationship with
Source.
- A referral network of local therapists, counselors and healers.
As of September 2007, members of the Caring Circle include:
Rev. Ted Tollefson, M.Div., M.S.
Besides parish and consulting ministry, I teach Jungian psychology at Metro State
University and world religions at United Theological Seminary. My approach to
counseling emphasizes establishing trust, listening, questions, articulating implicit
images and stories. I often include recommendations for self-care via meditation,
yoga, t'ai chi and chi gong. After two or three sessions, I make a referral
to our network of local therapists and counselors.

Nancy B. Miller, J.D.
As a jury trial attorney in the child welfare field for over 15 years, I’ve learned
a lot about people. I try to be guided in all I do by following this adapted principle
from “The Challenge Intervention Program“ Every individual is entitled to be treated
with respect and dignity, every day. Restorative Justice is why I went to law school.
My philosophy: THANK GOD WE ARE HERE TOGETHER NOW, WHAT A BLESSING!
Happy to listen to a friend in need of a respectful, confidential ear, and can refer on
to others. Enjoy singing.

Paula Lugar, MA, OTR/L
As a member of the caring circle, I can help you with health care advocacy, resources
for coping with chronic health problems, parenting kids with and without special
needs, and advocacy for education services. My focus is always on acknowledging
and discovering your innate wisdom rather than offering advice. I've worked
with kids and families as an occupational therapist for over 30 years. I've
expanded my practice to include working with adults in the area of wellness. In
my private practice at Eclectic Energetics Resource Collaborative (EERC), I work
with kids and adults to improve posture and movement and reduce pain. I also work
with kids to improve coping skills, become more resilient, and enhance social skills
and learning. I have a special interest in kids with autism and Asperger's syndrome
and kids and adults with attention deficit disorder.
