The sixth grade girl’s basketball program seeks to build on the fundamentals learned in previous years. Ball handling, passing, screening, triple threat position, and defensive skills are stressed. Game situations are reviewed for better understanding. Life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and self-confidence are emphasized. Respecting our teammates, opponents, coaches and officials are also highlighted. We work hard and try to have fun at the same time during practice. We practice twice a week for 90 minutes. The first 60 minutes working on fundamentals and the final 30 minutes working on game situations – offense, defense, press breaks, etc. Our season runs from October until early March. We typically participate in 6 to 8 tournaments during that time, including one home tournament.
