The Tea Our Victorian Cream Tea is an elegant three-course tea served at the Phipps Center for the Arts, overlooking the lovely St. Croix River. Tea can be served anytime after noon. Sweets and savories, presented on an elegant buffet table, include four varieties of finger sandwiches, freshly made scones with clotted cream and preserves, and a colorful assortment of dessert treats. Servers offer guests, seated at linen clad tables, endless cups of Earl Grey tea from silver pots, with cream, sugar and fresh lemon on silver trays. |
The Tours
Octagon House Museum Tour:
Before or after your tea, you may choose to enjoy a guided tour of the Victorian-era Octagon House Museum complex. In addition to the elegant home and its beautifully maintained gardens, the complex also includes a Garden House exhibit, and the Museum Gift Shop, located in the former carriage house.
Phipps Center for the Arts Tour:
Additionally, your group may prearrange a guided tour of the Phipps Center with a complimentary 15 to 20 minute organ concert presented on the Phipps Center's "mighty Wurlitzer."
City Tour:
If your group arrives by motor coach and you would like to learn about Hudson's architectural treasures and the people who built and inhabited them, the Historical Society offers a guided 45-minute city tour from the comfort of your bus.
The Details
The Victorian Cream Tea is offered to groups of 25 or more. We are able to accommodate a maximum of 75 people.
The charge for the combined Octagon House Museum complex tour and tea is $25.00 per person. Tea only is $18.00 per person. Phipps Arts Center Tours are free of charge. City Tours are $2 per person. Advance reservations are required for these special tours or tour combinations. A final count and 10% deposit is due no later than ten days before a Tea Tour.
