RYAN: "How old were you when you
started to like wrestling?"
NICK: "Since I was the son of a
wrestler, I'm not sure when I got interested since I was always
around it. I wrestled in high school and college so I must have
liked it then."
RYAN: "What tag team
partners have you had?"
NICK: "Tag team partners I've had
were Ray Stevens, Masa Saito, and Bobby Heenen."
RYAN: "How many titles have you
held and what were the names of them?"
NICK: "Titles I've had were:
AWA World Single Champion (4 times)
AWA World Tag Team Champions 4 times wiht Ray Stevens
AWA World Tag Team Champions 1 time with Masa Saito
US Championship (3 times)
California Champion (2 times)
RYAN: "Who was your
toughest opponent?"
NICK: "My toughest opponent was
probably Andre the Giant."
RYAN: "What was your favorite
wrestling move or submission hold?"
NICK: "My favorite submission holds
were the sleeper, the figure four leg lock, and the abdominal
stretch."
RYAN: "What is our favorite
wrestling organization?"
NICK: "The AWA was my favorite
wrestling organization. Today there is only the WWF and WCW and
both are fine.
I was the Commissioner of the WCW for two years."
RYAN: "Who was or is your favorite
wrestler of all time?"
NICK: "My father Warren Bockwinkel.
His 'No nonsense un-egotistical approach to the game made me good
enough to be as successful as I was. He made me understand how a
man's ego will make him do foolish or wrong things, and how to
push that opponent's buttons so it becomes easier for you to beat
him."
RYAN: "Are you still
Commissioner of the WCW?"
NICK: "No, I am no longer
the WCW Commissioner."

Verne Gagne, a star in his
own right,
began the careers of other wrestling stars as well,
including Hulk Hogan and Curt Hennig.
RYAN: "Which
wrestling titles have you held?
VERNE: "The
Minnesota State High School Champion, 4-time Big 10 Championship
with the University of Minnesota, 2-time NCAA Championship at the
University of Minnesota, and 2-time Heavyweight Pro Championship.
RYAN: "What wrestlers
have you had as tag-team partners?"
VERNE: "Pat
O'Conner, Wilbur xxxx, Mad Dog Vachon, and Greg Gagne."
RYAN: "What managers
have you had and who have you managed?"
VERNE:
"None."
RYAN: "What
federations have you wrestled in?"
VERNE: "NWA and
AWA."
RYAN: "Who or what got
you started in wrestling?"
VERNE: "My high
school wrestling coach at Robbinsdale High."
RYAN: "Did you
encourage or influence your son Greg to get into
wresstling?"
VERNE: "No - Greg
could have played pro football, but chose wrestling."
RYAN: "Who was your
toughest opponent?"
VERNE: "Billy
Robinson of England."
RYAN: "Who is your
favorite active wrestler today?"
VERNE: "Larry
Zybisco."
RYAN: "What is your
favorite federation today?"
VERNE: "AWA."
