My name is Stacey
Gilmore I am 19 years old. I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation 1 in January
of 2000. My symptoms are numbness, headaches, dizziness, weakness, loss of
balance, trouble with memory, hand tremors sometimes whole body, trouble with
voice. I also have Scoliosis and a Syrinx.
I've had 2 brain surgeries. The first one I had was February 29, 2000 They
drained fluid from the skull and made that area bigger. The surgery lasted 2
hours and i stayed in the hospital for 2 weeks I also layed flat on my back for
8 days. The second surgery I had was June 29,2000 they put in a Shunt. I stayed
in the hospital for 1 days and the surgery lasted 30 minutes to an hour. Since
the Shunt was put in I had severe pain in my stomach I've had the pain for about
a month. Then i experienced severe head aches and I still do.
Some nights i don't get any sleep and some nights I get some but not much. First
my right eye would irritate me kind of like numbness pain then the head ache
would come and it stays for 2 to 3 days at the most. I think my eye bothers me
the most. So far my symptoms are the same. But my MRI's are improving. That's
