Rachel Mullendore of the New Richmond High School girls hockey team is one of 10 finalists for the 2009 Wisconsin Ms. Hockey Award.

The Ms. Hockey Award honors top players in the WIAA girls hockey programs throughout the state.

Mullendore is a senior at Amery High School who is part of the Tigers through the WIAA cooperative team program. Mullendore is a three-year captain for the Tigers.

“Rachel has been a class act both on and off of the ice. She is very deserving of this nomination,” said Tiger coach John Larson. “She has been a great leader for three years and is a true role model to both the Amery and New Richmond communities.”

Despite dealing with knee and back injuries, Mullendore was able to amass 15 goals, 8 assists and 23 points in 17 games this season.

The award will be announced at the state hockey banquet Thursday night at the Sheraton Hotel in Madison, as part of the WIAA State Girls Hockey Championships.
