Policy/Procedure: POST SPLIT PLAYER MOVEMENT -- Policy AA
Approved: Approved: July, 2005
The Amery Youth Hockey Association does permit some limited movement of skaters from one team to another after the team splitting process has occurred. Any movement must be within the following guidelines:
1. No movement which is contrary to WAHA rules is permitted.
2. Players rostered on one team may not be moved to another team solely for the purpose of strengthening that team.
3. Player movement may only be in response to a demonstrated need (for example; player illness or injury, tournament rules).
4. Requesting head coach must demonstrate this need to the satisfaction of the chair of the Team Splitting Committee.
5. Request must be for a specified period of time.
6. Between age groups, movement may only be up, not down.
7. Within an age group, movement up (“B” Team to “A” Team) will be more readily permitted than movement down. Any movement down must be approved by affected tournament directors and/or opposing coaches.
8. Except for extraordinary circumstances, the number of players moved shall be equal to the number of players unable to play for approved reasons.
9. The head coach of each affected team must agree to the movement and agree on the players selected for movement.
10. Head coaches must receive consent of each selected player’s parents or guardian before the player is asked. Each player selected to move must also give consent.
