Willow River Nordic Ski Association
Welcome to the website! The goal of Willow River Nordic Ski Association is to enhance the cross-country ski experience for the public at Willow River State Park. This is being accomplished through volunteers, working with the park staff and as an arm of the park's friends group–the OWLs. Willow River Nordic members are encouraged to join the OWLs.

Recent accomplishments of our group include acquiring grooming equipment, adding to the park's ski trails, grooming ski trails and providing training opportunities for adults and youth skiers.

You can support our efforts to maintain and improve the skiing experience at Willow River by joining Willow River Nordic. Click on the Membership Info link to find out how you can join our group. Click the link to read or sign up for the Willow River Nordic E-mail newsletter.

Willow River State Park
The park offers a wide variety of opportunities for summer and winter outdoor recreation. The primary winter activity is cross-country skiing on the park's more than 14 km of groomed trails. Other activities include snowshoeing, ice fishing, hiking and sledding. Ski trails are groomed for both classic and skate skiing.

Willow River State Park is located approximately seven miles east of Hudson, Wisconsin on County Road A. See the detail map below for directions. The park is less than an hour's drive from the Twin Cities metro area.

OWLs Friends Group
Willow River Nordic is the cross-country ski arm of the park's friends group, the OWLs. The work done by the OWLs is as varied as the people who do it.  They teach nature programs for children and adults. They pull weeds plant native species in the prairie garden by the Nature Center. They help in the Nature Center by being a host. They cut out the invasive species of plant life. Volunteer opportunities are endless. The rewards are great!

The OWLs have been invaluable in their support of the ski program at Willow River. They have helped purchase grooming equipment, provided training stipends, assisted in trail clearing and much more. If you enjoy skiing at Willow River, please consider joining the OWLs as part of your Willow River Nordic membership. An OWLs membership form is available on the Membership Info link or call 715-386-9340.
